“Salt of the Earth” series: CALCIUM FLUORIDE (TISSUE SALT No. 1)

This is post number 1 of the "Salt of the Earth" blog series; offering useful information on Tissue Salt No.1 - Calcium Flouride.

In this post series by my dear Aunt Em, who is sharing her life experience and research around Tissue Salts. As outlined in the introduction, the “Salt of the Earth” series will include 12 posts, each covering an essential tissue salt conveniently numbered 1-12. We will explore each in detail and also provide suggested herbs, vegetables and fruit that contain the essential tissue salt.

Tissue Salt Blog Series Calcium Flouride Tissue Salt 1I am writing this post to you during a particularly miserable November month in the Garden Route of the Cape Province in South Africa. Over a period of 20 days we have only had two full sunshine days and two mornings only of sunshine and the rest being dull grey overcast days and some heavy rains. This kind of weather affects most people’s moods and that is when Tissue Salts becomes your best friend as they supply your body with the much needed biochemical salts needed to help you to not feel despondent, listless and just plain miserable when you cannot go outside for days on end because of cold, wet weather. It is important to eat a variety of organic fruit, vegetables and use fresh herbs as much as possible in soups and winter salads. But it may be necessary to supplement with tablets as well and I start today with describing the benefits of Tissue Salt No. 1, Calcium Fluoride.

I have personally supplemented with Tissue Salts in tablet form for the past 10 years to ensure that I get an optimum supply of earth’s mineral salts for bone health, cell renewal, mental alertness, protection against colds and flu and general well-being. The tablets are small and placed under your tongue and dissolve easily as it delivers minute dosages, you cannot overdose.

Mention fluoride and people immediately think of the fluoride in water and the controversies around the supplement of our water systems with fluoride.

But the fact is that Calcium Fluoride is a natural mineral and has always been found in water and in the soil. So it must be okay, right? The problem is that some authorities who have control over our water supply add fluoride to our water but not as calcium fluoride but as sodium fluoride and yes, in high doses fluorides can cause death. But we are talking very high doses whereas the amount in ordinary water is 0.7 to 1.00 gram per litre of water.

So what about the mineral salt calcium fluoride? Let us split it into calcium, which we all know are good for us, in fact we need at least 1 gram of calcium a day and no, you don’t get that from drinking a glass of milk a day. You need to eat eggs daily, fresh herbs and vegetables and fruit to get enough daily calcium in your body to maintain good health of bones, teeth, nervous system and organ function. Calcium a compound mineral and there is not just one type of Calcium, just as there is not just one type of Magnesium or one type of Phosphate or Sulphates. Our bodies need all the variants of calcium, magnesium, sulphates and phosphate to have optimal health. Many functions of our organs are dependent on these minerals and if we do not eat a varied diet of fresh organic fruit, vegetables and herbs, then we are deficient in one or more and that is when we start to have health problems that can range from digestive problems, nervous system problems, arthritis, gout, winter ailments etcetera.

So calcium fluoride in the mineral form that you get from a healthy diet will be good for you in more ways than one. Margaret Roberts in her book Tissue Salts for Healthy Living says the following about it ‑

“This mineral salt is characterised by these words: elasticity, flexibility, toning mental faculties like indecisiveness. It proves excellent combined with other tissue salts, due to its toning ability, (I.e., toning of elastic fibres), which means it is of great importance in the treatment of skin ailments and circulatory problems. Calcium fluoride is invaluable for both the growing child and the ageing adult.”

My personal experience

I have benefited from supplementing with this mineral salt in its toning and tissue strengthening ability, for bladder incontinence, which has plagued me as I age. At one stage when it was acute, I took two tablets three times a day for a few days and then decreased it to one tablet twice a day. Also, as we age, our bones and teeth seem to be the body parts that degenerate the fastest and I have found that calcium fluoride has helped strengthening my teeth and I take it with other calcium supplements for good bone health.

How we feel

Some people, like me, are adversely affected by bad weather patterns. I live in a part of South Africa where winter seems to stretch into nine months of the year and result in depression, restlessness and feeling listless and without motivation to do the job at hand. Calcium fluoride helps as it not only gives strength physically but mentally as well. Margaret Roberts calls it

“the coping mineral so much needed in the frenetic world of today.”

Children can benefit from it for concentration during exam time. If any of your children suffer from nightmares, they can benefit from this Tissue Salt as well. I also take it in combination with other mineral salts for sleeplessness and it definitely helps me.
